About me
Hello! I'm Omar and I want to share how I found my true passion after more than 8 years of searching. One day, by chance, I came across a pamphlet about a new career: Video Game Design and Programming. After doing some research, I decided to take a trial semester (after more than 8 years without setting foot in a classroom, after obtaining my degree in Systems Analyst) and I discovered in just 10 minutes of the first class that developing video games was what I had been looking for.
I love playing video games, ever since I can remember and I played with a clone of the legendary Atari 2600, but I love developing them even more and being able to help other people learn how to do it.
Since the day I walked into that classroom, I never stopped for a second. I have gained experience programming in several languages and have worked with well-known engines such as Unreal, Unity, Godot, as well as lesser-known ones.
I have worked on personal projects and studio projects with games that have been published.
My strengths cover both programming and mechanics/gameplay design, as well as Game QA; I have worked professionally in all these areas (to a greater or lesser extent). Even having those roles clearly defined as my favorites, I consider that a developer must be 'T-Shaped' and be able to understand something of all roles; only then can one be a great team player.
I firmly believe that nobody knows everything; in fact, nobody knows even 10% of 'everything'. The important thing is to strive to learn, not be afraid to say 'I don't know this', and seek help. Only by accepting our limitations are we able to overcome them.
